Records, 1969-1976.

Miscellaneous records including administrative material, newsletters, clippings, publicity materials, and minutes related to the Eau Claire Area Ecology Action and the National Environmental Teach-in. The Eau Claire Area Ecology Action grew out of a local teach-in to observe "Earth Day" on April 22, 1970. The records deal primarily with ecology in northern Wisconsin in the early 1970s, especially the "Earth Day" teach-in. Teach-in materials range from planning committee minutes, to press releases, to newspaper clippings on the event. Materials after the event deal with a wide range of issues which include nuclear power, Project Sanguine, and water and air pollution. Although dealing primarily with events between 1969 and 1971, the collection contains issues of ECO NEWS which date from the early 1970s to June 1976. The last issue of the collection, Volume 4, no. 6, indicates that between February and June the Eau Claire Area Ecology Action became Northern Thunder, an ecology organization which remains active to the present day.
